Technology to Support Family Caregivers
Kinto develops technology to support families caring for older adults.
Recently, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) asked us to develop a brand-new technology to support families caring for someone living with dementia. This work will include helping families to prepare for doctor’s appointments, co-ordinate care for their loved one, and improve safety in their home.
The Alzheimer’s Association and The Conversation Project have agreed to support this work, and we are looking for local families who are willing to test the first prototypes in early 2019.
Who are we looking to help us?
We are gathering a small number of Waltham families to test our initial prototype. You or the person you are caring for can live in Waltham.
To be eligible to participate in the project, you need to be caring for a family member living with dementia, and to own a smart phone (iPhone and Android).
Waltham has a strong reputation for caregiving within Massachusetts, and caregiving professionals from the city are already giving us a lot of great feedback on the development phase of our project. We wanted to make sure we carry this through to the prototype testing phase, and get this into the hands of Waltham caregivers.
What will I need to do?
Our goal is to keep this as simple as possible. To participate in the test, you will need to:
- Download the new app when it is released in Jan 2019
- Complete two 10-15 minute testing sessions each week for 4-6 weeks
- Let us know what you think through a simple, 2-3 question survey each week
Our hope is that this feedback helps shape technology that will support hundreds of thousands of families across the US in the years to come!
Will I get paid?
We want this to be a rewarding experience for everyone. As we figure out the exact nature of the testing, we’ll let you know how we plan to reward folks for supporting this work. More to come on this soon (and feel free to offer us suggestions!)
